SG Hiscock & Company has appointed Nick Wallace-Smith to the role of CFO and joint company secretary, and Phil Anderson to the role of business development manager for New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory.
Mr Wallace-Smith commenced with the firm on 8 January 2025. He is based in SG Hiscock’s Melbourne office and reports to chief executive officer, Giles Croker.
Prior to joining SG Hiscock, Mr Wallace-Smith was a company secretary of the ASX listed Alumina Limited, joining in 2016, and also worked at PwC for nine years in the Financial Services division in both Melbourne and London. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia & New Zealand and the Governance Institute of Australia.
At SG Hiscock, he is responsible for financial reporting and supporting the company’s adherence to relevant legal and regulatory requirements, as well as liaising between the board of directors and management.
Mr Croker says: “Nick brings with him almost two decades of experience in the financial services and resources industries as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary, which will prove valuable to our business as we expand.
“He will be a key member of the SG Hiscock team, liaising between the board and management to ensure alignment of business goals and execution in 2025 and beyond.”
The appointment of Mr Anderson was effective from 3 February 2025. He will be based in SG Hiscock’s Sydney office and will report to head of distribution, Anthony Cochran.
Mr Anderson’s career spans nearly three decades in the financial services industry. Prior to joining SG Hiscock, Mr Anderson worked in business development with Fidante/Challenger, Macquarie and the MyNorth Platform.
In his role, Mr Anderson will work with current and prospective clients, strengthening and expanding the firm’s relationships amongst wholesale and retail investment channels as well dealer goods and financial adviser networks in New South Wales, Queensland and Australian Capital Territory.
Mr Cochran says: “Phil is a highly experienced business development manager and key account manager, with over 25 years of industry experience.
“He brings a wealth of client relationships that he has cultivated over many years, and we are excited to welcome him to the firm and distribution team, as we strengthen our distribution arm in Australia.”
This announcement follows the recent appointments of Jason Smit to business development manager in December 2024 and Alastair McKibbin to head of research and consultants in January 2025.
